INTRODUCTION

Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, is the ancient Indian system of astrology rooted in the Vedas. It views the birth chart (Kundli) as a map of one's karma and destiny, with planets (Grahas), signs (Rashis), and houses (Bhavas) revealing life patterns, strengths, and challenges.

This course introduces you to the fundamentals: reading a birth chart, understanding planetary positions, Dasha and transit analysis, and basic remedial measures. Whether you wish to practice professionally or deepen your personal understanding, you will learn from a structured, step-by-step approach.

CHAPTER 01

PLANETARY POSITIONS & CHARTS

The birth chart is cast using the exact date, time, and place of birth. The twelve houses represent different areas of life—self, wealth, siblings, home, children, health, partnerships, transformation, wisdom, career, gains, and losses. Each planet occupies a sign and a house, and their placements define your unique blueprint.

Learning to identify the Ascendant (Lagna), the Moon sign (Rashi), and the positions of the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn is the first step. This chapter walks you through the structure of the North Indian (Parashari) chart and how to read planetary strengths and weaknesses.

CHAPTER 02

DASHA & TRANSIT ANALYSIS

Vedic astrology uses time periods called Dashas to predict when certain life themes become active. The Vimshottari Dasha system, based on the Moon's position at birth, allots specific years to each planet. When your Jupiter Dasha runs, for example, themes of wisdom, growth, and opportunity are highlighted.

Transits (Gochar) show how current planetary movements interact with your birth chart. Combining Dasha and transit analysis helps you understand not only what is written in your chart but when it is likely to manifest. This chapter introduces the basics of timing and prediction in Jyotish.
